Squat sesh - 1/4/14... Dances with Fatties...

Woke up randomly early this morning - yes, 6:30AM on a Saturday is early as hell - and couldn't get back to sleep. Grabbed for the ol' Nokia and proceeded to check the Facebooks, the Youtubes, the Pluses, etc, and took a trip down the internet rabbit hole. Started somewhere with a link found on the Faceboks to an article at Cracked.com - "6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You A Better Person" - and ended somewhere with a few videos from/about/featuring Henry Rollins, most importantly-



This all added up to one conclusion.

It was time to get the fuck up and squat.



Here's what occurred:

  • Dynamic squat - 185+ 2 chains, 8x2 (couple of those were threes)
  • GHR - 6x6
  • Hip abductions with doubled over EliteFTS red mini band - 4x20
  • Leg press - 3x20x315lbs

First time getting back into the good ol' dynamic squats since... sheeeeeit... August? September? Admittedly went reasonably light but my squat has suffered a bit recently along with everything else and it was good to get back under some chains. Do another session like this next week with a little more weight and then we'll give the ol' bands a shot.

I even remembered to get a video.



I forget which set that was, but about three or four in.

Two things about it-

1) Need to get my knees out a little more and sit back to get my depth queued in. Proprioception is a bitch.

2) Holy shit, did you see that belly?! I have gained about 20lbs over the last eight months, so I know it is bad, but damn. Already started getting back on the wagon a bit, but it's about damn time to put away the Chick-Fil-A and Dr Peppers.

Damn.

Just damn.
